Prof. Kenny Wong, Senior Consultant at ELLALAN, spoke at the 2026 Guangdong/Hong Kong Seminar on Intellectual Property and Development of Small and Medium Enterprises, held in Foshan on 3 September 2026. The seminar explored IP strategies and practical issues for enterprises expanding into international markets.
His presentation, titled “Navigating IP Risks and Disputes for Going Global” (ãčĩ°åēåģãæéįįĨčįĸæŦéĸ¨éĒ鞿§åįŗžį´æå°), examined the IP disputes that SMEs may encounter overseas and the challenges that new market entrants may face.
Prof. Wong focused on the measures SMEs should put in place before expanding overseas. He highlighted the importance of identifying risks early, planning key brands and core technologies strategically, as well as building an overseas IP management system. He also outlined practical steps for responding when disputes arise, including preserving evidence promptly and establishing a reliable response team.
The seminar attracted over 200 representatives of SMEs, IP practitioners and government officials from Guangdong and Hong Kong. Thank you to the organisers and fellow speakers for a valuable exchange of insights.
