
Alice graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry. She then pursued her Juris Doctor and completed Postgraduate Certificate in Laws at the same school. Before joining the legal profession, Alice engaged in research focusing on molecular biology and protein science for more than 7 years.
Prior to joining us, Alice was an Intellectual Property Specialist at Albert Wai-Kit Chan Intellectual Property Limited and has 7 years of experience in patent matters. Focusing on biotechnology and healthcare inventions, Alice assisted local and overseas clients in patent filings and prosecution, conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate analysis and managing the clients’ patent portfolios. Alice also assisted in drafting commercial and transactional agreements for startup companies.
With her scientific background and patent experience, Alice has published articles discussing IP and regulatory issues in the areas of stem cells, natural products, genomic medicine, foods and biosimilars and was invited to be a speaker on those topics. She has also been teaching as a part-time lecturer on IP and relevant topics in the School of Life Sciences at the CUHK since 2016.
Alice joined us as a Trainee in 2020 to qualify as a solicitor in Hong Kong.
Alice speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
