We are delighted to share that our Partner, Rosita Li, and Associate, Hank Yeung, recently delivered an interactive seminar on Intellectual Property Rights for students and staff at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), with a special focus on those studying computer science and data science.

The session walked through the core pillars of intellectual property – including trade marks, copyright, patents and designs – and why IP matters for innovators, entrepreneurs and researchers. Using real life case studies, including examples drawn from the University itself, Rosita and Hank discussed how IP underpins legal protection, commercialisation opportunities and competitive advantage in today’s knowledge driven economy.

They also shared practical guidance on transferring, commercialising, enforcing and managing IP in practice, including ownership, licensing and portfolio planning, as well as common issues that arise when bringing ideas to market. Rosita and Hank encouraged students to start thinking early about how to protect their own creations as they grow in their studies and future careers.

A big thank you to HSUHK for the warm welcome and to all participants for their thoughtful questions and enthusiastic engagement. At ELLALAN, we remain committed to supporting the next generation of talent in understanding and leveraging IP to power innovation.
