Our Managing Partner, Alan Chiu, has recently made his first appearance as a Greater Bay Area (GBA) lawyer, advocating for a high-stake trademark infringement and unfair competition case in the Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court.

This case concerns cross-border e-commerce and IP issues that are largely untested before the Chinese court. While Alan has over two decades of experience in helping clients in navigating the IP landscape in mainland China and is one of the first batch of Hong Kong lawyers passing the GBA Legal Professional Exam and qualified to practice Chinese law within the GBA, this case marked Alan’s first time (and one of the very first GBA lawyers) advocating before Mainland judges in IP civil cases.
