Our Senior Consultant, Ella Cheong, recently participated in the APAA Hong Kong AGM 2025 together with our Partners Rosita Li and Valerie Suen, bringing her trademark energy and enthusiasm to a gathering of Hong Kong intellectual property professionals.
The AGM was a wonderful occasion, not only for connecting with familiar faces but also for reflecting on the group’s incredible journey. Members even had fun comparing this year’s group photo with the one taken in 2020, a powerful reminder of the strong bonds and enduring friendships within our community.
As the founder of the APAA Hong Kong Group, Ella has played a pivotal role in shaping the path of the IP profession both locally and across Asia. She served as the group’s first Councillor, Group President, and International Vice President, demonstrating an exceptional level of vision and leadership from the very outset. Through her efforts, the group has grown from just seven members in 1974 to 106 today, and it has become part of a wider APAA family that now boasts nearly 2,000 members from 16 Recognised Groups spanning the Asia-Pacific, Australia, and New Zealand. Ella also invites all who are interested in IP to join the APAA meeting in Kuala Lumpur this November, where new connections and more great memories await.
With a distinguished career in IP law dating back to the 1960s, Ella is not only a trailblazer but also a mentor whose commitment to the development of the intellectual property community remains unwavering. Her ongoing contributions, even after so many years in the profession, continue to inspire all of us at ELLALAN and the wider IP community.
At ELLALAN, we are proud to support IP organisations and initiatives, both in Hong Kong and globally. Our mission is to raise awareness, encourage collaboration, and advocate for progress and protection in intellectual property rights.
