Alan Chiu, Managing Partner, was earlier invited by the Guangdong Higher People’s Court to attend a conference at the Shenzhen Qianhai Cooperation Zone People’s Court on intellectual property (“IP”) rights in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (“GBA”).

Alan was invited as the only Hong Kong lawyer and GBA lawyer representative and shared his views and recommendations on the development of IP in the GBA.

The conference was attended by officials from the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the Supreme People’s Court, Judges from the Guangdong Higher People’s Court, executive and professors from Jinan University, City University of Hong Kong, and Macau University of Science and Technology, representatives from the Guangdong Trademark Association, in-house IP lawyers of large GBA corporations and leading IP practitioners.

Alan’s sharing covered, amongst other topics, the use threshold of trade marks in the GBA, reciprocal enforcement of pre-trial injunction against IP-infringement, role of GBA lawyers and Hong Kong mediators in cross-border cases, reciprocal recognition of infringement evidence and the simplification of China Attestation procedures.
