Our Founder and Managing Partner, Alan Chiu, and Associate, Rachel ZHANG, recently spoke with Manulife clients on a topic close to many families’ hearts: 平安三寶 (The Three Instruments of Peace).

They shared how a Will (平安紙), Enduring Power of Attorney (EPOA) and Advance Directive (AD) work together to protect individuals and their loved ones at every stage of life.

– Will (平安紙) – More than just distributing assets, it ensures your wishes are respected, allows you to appoint trusted executors, and helps prevent family disputes.

– Enduring Power of Attorney (EPOA) – What happens if dementia or a stroke occurs? An EPOA allows you to appoint someone to manage your financial affairs—even after losing mental capacity.

– Advance Directive (AD) – In situations such as terminal illness or coma, do you wish to receive life-sustaining treatment? An AD enables you to make these decisions in advance, easing the burden on your family.

With Hong Kong’s ageing population and rising cases of cognitive impairment, these tools are no longer optional—they are essential for peace of mind.

A big thank you to Manulife Hong Kong and Macau for hosting this meaningful session, and to all participants for their thoughtful questions and engagement.
