Deepfakes — AI-generated images, audio and videos that convincingly replicate a person’s likeness — are increasingly being misused for cyberbullying, scams, disinformation and image-based sexual violence. The consequences can be severe, particularly for children and young people.
In response, the Hong Kong Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data has published a practical toolkit aimed at helping schools and families prevent, identify and respond to deepfake-related incidents.
Our Managing Partner Alan Chiu, together with our Senior Associate Grace Wong, Associate Hank Yeung and Trainee Solicitor Destiny Chan, examine the key features of the toolkit and how it supports stronger digital safety and privacy awareness across the community.
