We are thrilled to share that our Partner, Rosita Li, and Associate, Hank Yeung, recently conducted an engaging seminar on the use of AI for one of our longstanding multinational clients, Mentholatum (Asia Pacific) Limited.

The seminar explored how emerging AI tools are transforming the creative, commercial, and legal landscape — raising important questions about intellectual property, data protection, cybersecurity, as well as commercial and practical risks on the use of AI. It was inspiring to see the participants’ enthusiasm and active participation, sparking meaningful discussions on how to harness AI responsibly while safeguarding their intellectual assets.

Rosita and Hank shared insights on the issues of copyright subsistence and infringement arising from AI-generated works, with real life examples that compared the evolving standards across Hong Kong, Mainland China, European Union, and the United States. They also discussed practical strategies for mitigating IP, data protection and commercial risks, including understanding the practical and contractual restrictions of AI, content labelling of AI-generated works, implementation of internal AI policies, and tips on navigating the evolving AI x legal landscape.

Our “AI x IP” seminar series is a testament to our firm’s dedication to empowering businesses with the knowledge they need to navigate the evolving landscape of IP and technology confidently. We are proud of the positive feedback received and look forward to fostering this partnership with Mentholatum, supporting their journey in innovation and brand protection.

A big thank you to the Mentholatum team for their warm hospitality and enthusiastic participation — it truly made the session special.
