Berton Bian is a Consultant in the Corporate, Commercial and TMT Practice of ELLALAN. He is a Hong Kong–qualified solicitor with a Master of Public Administration from Cornell University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Hong Kong.

Berton advises across the full spectrum of Web3 and fintech sectors, including virtual asset exchanges, crypto brokerage/trading, staking, tokenisation and real-world asset (RWA) projects, stablecoins, payment services, and AI ventures. His legal expertise covers regulatory licensing and compliance, corporate finance and IPOs, private equity/venture capital, M&A, complex cross-border transactions, and dispute resolution.

As a former Head of Legal at HashKey, a leading regulated virtual asset and fintech group, he managed high-stakes, multi-jurisdictional matters spanning Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Bermuda, the UAE, and beyond. He drove the adoption of AI-enabled legal workflows, advised on strategic tokenisation and RWA initiatives, and played a central role in the group’s licensing and investment initiatives. Under his leadership, the legal team was recognised among ALB Asia’s Top 15 In-House Teams (2025).

Berton began his career with Clifford Chance and Han Kun Law Offices, focusing on Hong Kong IPOs, listed company compliance, and cross-border PE/VC transactions in the technology, media, and financial services sectors. He works at the intersection of law, regulation, and business strategy, helping clients navigate complex and fast-evolving technology markets with clarity and confidence.
